Monday Night
Dinners

Strangers show up. Friends leave. Every single time.

The Story

It started with a table,
a few strangers,
and a hunch.

When I moved to Coeur d'Alene, I didn't know a soul. After a hard breakup, I was completely alone, and social media was only making it worse. I was craving something real. Real conversation. Real presence. The kind of connection you can't fake or scroll past.

So I did what my mom used to do. She'd gather all of us home every Monday, no matter how old we got. It was just dinner. But it kept us close in a way nothing else did. I decided to try the same thing here, except instead of family, I'd invite strangers I met along the way.

The first one had 11 people. We never stopped. Eventually the dinners grew too big for indoors. Now every other Monday from May through September, hundreds of people show up in the backyard, and somehow it still feels like the first one.

One dinner at a time. One stranger at a time.

Someone always brings a new face. That new face brings someone else next time. The world just keeps getting a little smaller and a lot warmer.

How It Works

Simple rules.
Profound results.

We keep it intentionally uncomplicated.

🍽

Bring a Side Dish

Everyone contributes. Everyone belongs. A shared table starts with a shared contribution.

📵

No Phones

Just long enough to remember what it feels like to actually be somewhere.

🚫

No Business. No Politics.

Leave the divisive stuff at the door. Tonight, we're just people.

💬

Real Conversation Only

No agenda. No networking. Just the kind of talk you actually remember in the morning.

🌎

Bring a Stranger

Know someone who needs this? Bring them. That's how the world gets smaller.

🎶

Good Music, Always

String lights, good food, and a soundtrack to match. Some nights it doesn't stop until midnight.

No agenda other than getting to genuinely know the people around you.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

Half the country is going through the week feeling completely alone.

The U.S. Surgeon General called loneliness a public health crisis. Weak social connection raises our risk of early death as much as smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day. It's not just sad. It's a health emergency.

Monday Night Dinners are simple on purpose. Shared tables. Real eye contact. Structured conversation. Room to be seen. That's it. But that simple design maps directly to what the research says protects us.

Connection isn't a slogan. It's preventive care we all need.

Cigarettes a day worth of health damage loneliness causes, per the U.S. Surgeon General
30%

See It For Yourself

What it actually feels like to be there.

Words don't quite capture it. These come close.

Thank you so, so much for creating Monday Night Dinners. The first time I came, I was all alone. I had so many losses in life and I was the only person left. You have created such a profound sense of community and helped me feel that none of us are alone. We are all part of a bigger world together. I am eternally grateful.

The community you create is beautiful, valuable and necessary in a society that many times forgets to be kind. Thank you for letting us remember what it means to be neighbors and to truly build the community we've lost.

I was a cashier at Safeway across the street and Adam was in and out regularly. I was welcomed immediately, and that first dinner I met a group of friends I am still lucky to have in my life.
